Rafael González was founded in 1928 by Spanish nobleman Rafael González, originally aimed at the British market. In 1936, the brand was acquired by El Rey Del Mundo cigar company, but production ceased in the early 1960s. Relaunched in 1965, it has since been produced alongside El Rey Del Mundo, with both regarded as representatives of high-end luxury brands.
Rafael González cigars are known for their mild flavor. The filler and binder leaves are sourced from the Vuelta Abajo region, and all vitolas are Totalmente a Mano con Tripa Larga – totally handmade long-filler cigars. Only one vitola is made as a short-filler (Totalmente a Mano Tripa Corta), using tobacco leaves from the Semi Vuelta region.
