El Rey Del Mundo (literally “King of the World”) was founded in 1848 by German businessman Emilio Ohmstedt, who also created another cigar brand – Sancho Panza. Ohmstedt chose the name “King of the World” to reflect his ambition of producing the highest-quality Cuban cigars. The brand’s cigars are made exclusively with the finest tobacco leaves from the Vuelta Abajo region to ensure perfect quality. By the mid-20th century, El Rey Del Mundo had become one of the most expensive and prestigious cigar brands.
